In Partnership with Current Talks with Miss Rumbie
In the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, a digital existence, unknown to most, became the new normal. From working from home, to online schools and online shopping – the world as we knew it, existed only on the other side of our screens. Needless to say this new normal exposed the general population to cyber risk which brought with it a new set of problems in the form of security threats such as:
- emails about being the only heir to a $19M inheritance from an unknown uncle
- unsolicited malicious software installations and browser plug-ins
- ransomware attacks resulting in prominent enterprises having their confidential data held hostage
- data security threats in the form of text message links from alleged banks requiring passcodes to reactivate accounts
- prompts from random websites for personal data in-order to claim winnings because your device was the 100th lucky user
The list is endless and quite frankly, our electronic devices and computer networks have never worked harder. While a few individuals and organizations might know a thing or two about cyber threats, vulnerability management, information security and cyber security software, millions of people and small businesses are falling prey to cyber attacks every day.
